เงินสด หมายถึง เงินสดในมือ และ เงินฝากธนาคารที่ต้องจ่ายคืน เมื่อถวงถาม และ หากพูดถึง เงินสดแล้ว อาจประกอบไปด้วยหลายๆ คำที่อาจให้ความหมาย หรือนิยาม เหมือนกันกับ คำว่า ” เงินสด ” เช่น
1.รายการเทียบเท่าเงินสด หมายถึง เงินลงทุนระยะสั้นที่มีสภาพคล่องสูง ซึ่งพร้อมที่จะ เปลี่ยนเป็นเงินสดในจำนวนที่ทราบได้ และมี ความเสี่ยงที่ไม่มีนัยสำคัญต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงใน มูลค่า
2.กระแสเงินสด หมายถึง การเข้าและออกของเงินสดและรายการเทียบเท่าเงินสด
